The Duncan High School Bands are committed to a tradition of excellence. Duncan offers its students many musical opportunities through membership in the DHS Bands. In Duncan Public Schools, students begin learning musical instruments at the middle school in sixth grade. After this year, they join the Middle School Concert Band, which consists of both seventh and eighth grade students.

At the high school, students are able to be members in the Marching Band, the Concert Band, the Basketball Band, the Jazz Band, and the Percussion Ensemble as well as numerous solo and ensemble opportunities. We perform two concerts annually with all our combined concert ensembles; a holiday concert in December and a spring concert in May. Additionally, the concert band and Jazz band go to contest each year and perform a pre-contest concert for parents and friends. These performances are free and open to the public and are in addition to performances at athletic events for the district.

Students of the DHS Bands are encouraged to audition and participate in many honor bands throughout the year and over the summer. We have a rich tradition of students who have been named to All-Region and All-State Bands. Also, as part of our curriculum, students participate in solo and ensemble contests as these opportunities provide our students with venues to further develop their musical skills.

Duncan Band Boosters

One of the most active Booster organizations in Duncan are the Duncan Band Boosters.  This group of dedicated parents, grandparents and anyone else who supports the band, work extremely hard to keep the excellence of the band intact.  Through this group's financial assistance, they have helped in the purchase of two band trailers, various instruments and many, many meals for our band students.

The Band Boosters' largest fundraiser is the annual Dehydrator Bike Race.  This event brings in riders from all over the state of Oklahoma, as well as the surrounding states.  This event is held the last Saturday in July.  For more information click HERE.

Meetings are held on the second Monday of each month at the High School Bandroom, and anyone interested in supporting the bands, grades 6 - 12, are always welcome.
